We have a bird's nest up in our eaves. This little guy and his mama were on our front porch this afternoon. (I hope he is actually able to fly.) They were having a great feast on birdseed leftover from our squirrel a day or two before. So cute!
Oh, I just hate baby bird season! I always have such mixed emotion--I love seeing those little moms and babies hopping around the yard and feeder, learning how to go about getting around as a birdie. But then, I always find a little broken egg or featherless youngling that didn't make it. There is the squished birdie who didn't know to get out of the way of the car or the kitties happen to get a baby hopping about. I have to be extra vigilent--making sure they come in if there are babies around. I know that birds have lots of babies because the odds of them all surviving is small--I just wish I didn't have to see any of it.
